What I do

How it works...

10 sessions

Therapies like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) requires a longer term commitment to counselling to take effect. CBT can be beneficial for reducing symptoms of anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder. Also, additional sessions may benefit a child or young adult who has other presenting issues they want to work on. Discounted per session when you purchase a contract.

Six session contract

In these sessions we will dive into exploring the child's or young adults experiences and network of friends and family. We will be doing some writing and drawing activities to identify emotions, thoughts and perceptions of people and experiences in their life. We will also work on developing intrapersonal and emotional coping skills and strategies. This may include mindfulness activities, CBT, ACT and solution focused therapy. We may look at lifestyle factors including routine, screen time and help the client identify how these can be addressed.

Initial session - 60 mins

I'll begin by making the client feel safe by allowing them to play some games or by doing some drawing keeping things light hearted. In the initial session we will gently discuss the reasons the client has come into counselling for. I will focus the session not on exploring solutions yet but building an idea of the clients goals whilst building trust and rapport. What is said in counselling will be confidential and this will be communicated to the client and their family during and prior to the session when the contract will be sent via email following your booking.
